About this plugin
BSAClipper represents a refreshingly pragmatic approach to a problem that has plagued modern mixing for decades: how to manage transient peaks and control loudness without sacrificing the dynamic character that makes recordings feel alive. Black Salt Audio's solution strips away the decorative features and parameter sprawl that define most clipping plugins, leaving only what matters in a professional workflow.
The plugin operates on a straightforward principle. The Input knob controls drive level into the clipping stage, while a single threshold fader determines where hard clipping engages. A visual meter displays the amount of signal being clipped in real time, providing immediate feedback about your dynamic processing. This minimalist architecture means decision-making happens quickly, which translates to faster mixing sessions and fewer rabbit holes chasing marginal improvements.

Sonically, BSAClipper delivers transparent, predictable clipping behavior without the coloration or artifacts that plague some digital clipping algorithms. It's equally effective on individual tracks - taming vocal peaks or controlling bass transients - or as a mastering-chain safety limiter. The lack of lookahead or soft-knee options means it behaves like an analog clipper: straightforward and immediate.
This tool resonates most with engineers who value efficiency and clarity over feature-creep. It suits mixers comfortable with dynamic control through gain staging rather than complex automation, and producers who recognize that simple tools often produce the best results. In an ecosystem crowded with unnecessarily complicated clippers, BSAClipper's restraint feels radical.
