About this plugin
This upgrade brings owners of Softube's Weiss Compressor/Limiter into the complete DS1-MK3 ecosystem, adding the integrated de-essing module and Weiss MM-1 Mastering Maximizer that define the full mastering suite. The upgrade path acknowledges that serious mastering work demands more than compression alone.
The DS1-MK3 remains the most transparent multiband processor available in plugin form, descended directly from Weiss Engineering's hardware standard. Its architecture handles simultaneous compression, limiting, and de-essing across independent frequency bands, a capability that separates it from conventional dynamics processors. The algorithm performs linear phase processing without latency penalties that compromise real-time mixing workflows, crucial for mastering applications where accuracy matters more than CPU efficiency.

For mastering engineers transitioning from the standalone Compressor/Limiter, this upgrade represents completion rather than replacement. The integrated de-esser targets sibilance with surgical precision using FFT analysis, while the MM-1 maximizer provides lookahead limiting that prevents intersample peaks without the pumping artifacts that plague traditional limiters. These additions are not supplementary tools but essential components of the mastering chain that Weiss designed as an integrated unit.
The plugin executes the same algorithms that run on hardware units costing five figures, making it exceptionally cost-effective for serious mastering operations. Experienced engineers will recognize this as the processor behind countless major-label releases. The upgrade investment is modest compared to the sonic and workflow improvements it delivers for mastering-grade work.
