About this plugin
Softube's upgrade to their Tube-Tech Complete Collection consolidates the Danish manufacturer's most essential signal processors into a single, authoritative toolkit. The collection now includes the newly added SMC 2B Multiband Compressor, an expert emulation of Tube-Tech's renowned three-band optical compression design, alongside updated iterations of the CL 1B Mk II optical compressor and Classic Channel Mk II.
The sonic foundation remains rooted in Tube-Tech's analog philosophy: transparent yet characterful processing that adds presence without obvious coloration. The CL 1B Mk II delivers the expected punchy, musical compression that defined the original hardware, while the Classic Channel Mk II provides gentle saturation and warmth suitable across sources. The PE 1C and ME 1B Pultec-style equalizers round out the collection with passive, tube-driven tone shaping that excels at masking and additive EQ work.

The SMC 2B represents the most significant addition. Its three-band approach offers refined frequency-specific dynamics control without the computational heaviness of linear-phase alternatives, making it particularly valuable for sources requiring surgical yet analog-sounding compression across multiple registers.
This collection appeals primarily to mixing and mastering engineers working with acoustic material, vocals, or instruments where maintaining organic character matters more than pristine transparency. While not groundbreaking technically, these tools occupy a specific sonic territory: the intersection of clinical accuracy and warm, vintage processing. For studios already invested in Softube's Tube-Tech ecosystem, the upgrade justifies itself through the SMC 2B's capabilities and the refinements across the existing modules.
