About this plugin
The Empirical Labs Complete Collection 2 represents a significant step up from the standalone Mike-E Comp, consolidating four essential tools into a cohesive ecosystem designed for engineers who value analog character in the box. This upgrade bundles the Mike-E Comp alongside Professor Punch-Knuckles, LilfrEQ, and Trak Pak for Console 1, creating a formidable toolkit rooted in Dave Derr's philosophy of aggressive yet refined dynamics processing and saturation.
The collection's strength lies in its sonic coherence. Rather than assembling disparate algorithms, Softube and Empirical Labs built these tools to work in concert, each sharing the same tonal DNA that defines modern ELI hardware. The Mike-E Comp remains a centerpiece - a transparent yet characterful compressor equally at home on individual tracks or buses. Professor Punch-Knuckles adds saturation with three distinct flavors, bridging the gap between subtle color and forceful distortion. LilfrEQ contributes warmth and punch that distinguishes it from clinical mixing equalizers, while Trak Pak streamlines workflow for Console 1 integration.

This bundle appeals primarily to mix engineers and producers seeking cohesive analog modeling without plugin sprawl. It's particularly valuable for those working in rock, hip-hop, and other genres where controlled aggression and character matter. The upgrade pricing acknowledges existing Mike-E Comp users while offering substantial savings compared to purchasing separately.
Among comparable collections, the Complete Collection 2 occupies a pragmatic middle ground - less comprehensive than universal tool suites but more focused than genre-specific bundles. For engineers already committed to Empirical Labs' sonic signature, it provides justifiable value and workflow efficiency.
