About this plugin
Storch Filter is a multimode filter plugin designed in collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer Scott Storch that approaches signal processing through the lens of dynamic, rhythmic sound design. At its core sits a resonant filter with five integrated effects modules - reverb, chorus, saturation, stereo spreader, and phaser - that respond intelligently to cutoff and resonance adjustments. This architecture encourages intuitive, performance-like interaction where tonal shaping naturally drives effect intensity, reducing the menu diving typical of effect-heavy workflows.
The plugin's distinguishing feature is its built-in autofilter engine, offering six modulation waveforms with independent control over rate, depth, and phase. This allows producers to move beyond static filtering into rhythmic territory, from subtle pulsing to pronounced pumping effects or deliberately polyrhythmic movements. The FX Boost slider provides an additional layer of saturation and character, useful for compensating for dynamic range compression inherent in heavy filtering.

Storch Filter appeals most to hip-hop and R&B producers seeking sophisticated filter automation without sacrificing workflow efficiency, though its sound design capabilities extend usefully into electronic music and pop production. The preset collection, curated by Storch himself, demonstrates practical applications across genres rather than offering novelty presets, serving as effective references for understanding the plugin's sonic priorities.
While filter plugins with modulation are commonplace, Storch Filter's strength lies in its streamlined integration of multiple effect types with cutoff-responsive behavior. This creates cohesive, musically useful results quickly - an efficiency gain that matters in professional production contexts where decision fatigue and technical overhead directly impact creative output.
