About this plugin
Bent represents a thoughtful approach to digital oscillator design that sidesteps the typical emulation of classic analog circuits in favor of something more deliberately synthetic. Sinevibes' bent-wave modulation technique takes two sine oscillators through a "bender" module that manipulates the modulator's curvature, phase, and time symmetry before frequency modulation occurs. The result sits somewhere between traditional FM synthesis and subtractive waveform morphing, producing timbres with a distinctly rounded, elastic character that avoids the clinical precision or brittle artifacts common to purely digital oscillators.
The plugin offers five output waveforms with adjustable harmonic balance, suggesting real-time morphing capabilities rather than fixed preset shapes. Integration with Korg's resonant low-pass filter proves particularly effective, likely due to the plugin's specific harmonic density and bandwidth characteristics. The inclusion of built-in lag processors, a flexible LFO (0.1 to 10 Hz), and a full envelope generator with millisecond-to-second timescales positions this as a complete oscillator voice rather than a limited synthesis module.

Bent is best suited for producers seeking textural depth without the workflow friction of complex FM parameter editing. Sound designers exploring hybrid synthesis territory will find the bent-wave approach rewarding, particularly for pad work and evolving lead tones. While the sonic character prioritizes musicality over extreme modulation capabilities, the smooth parameter morphing and filter synergy create compelling long-form timbral movement. As part of Sinevibes' Korg OSC collection, it maintains strong compatibility across the prologue, minilogue xd, and NTS-1 platforms, making it accessible across Korg's popular hardware ecosystems.
