About this plugin
Serato Sample is a comprehensive sampling plugin that addresses a genuine workflow challenge: extracting usable material from complete recordings. Rather than relying on manual slicing techniques, the plugin employs machine learning algorithms to automatically detect transients and identify musically coherent segments, generating up to 32 chopped samples from a single source in one operation. This automation scales appropriately for different use cases, from rapid drum one-shot extraction to nuanced melodic fragmentation.
The plugin's stem separation represents its most significant technical advancement. Real-time decomposition into vocal, melody, bass, and drum stems allows producers to manipulate individual elements without destructive editing, a capability previously requiring external processing or expensive third-party solutions. Separation quality remains serviceable for production purposes, though clarity varies depending on source material complexity.

Time-stretching and pitch-shifting functionality, leveraging Serato's Pitch 'n Time engine, enables sample manipulation without the artifacts common to basic algorithms. Keyboard mode transforms chopped segments into playable instruments across the piano scale, supporting both monophonic and polyphonic triggering via MIDI or computer keyboard input.
Serato Sample suits electronic producers, hip-hop beatmakers, and sample-based composers seeking efficient tools to accelerate creative iteration. The plugin integrates seamlessly with major DAWs and hosts through AAX, AU, VST, and VST3 protocols, maintaining BPM synchronization automatically. While not replacing foundational sampling knowledge or careful curation, it meaningfully reduces the technical friction between source material and finished composition, making it particularly valuable for rapid prototyping and exploratory production sessions.
