About this plugin
Screech Machine is a three-oscillator synthesizer designed with a singular focus: generating the aggressive, resonant leads and industrial textures that define modern electronic music production. Built by Rave Generation, the plugin takes a distinctive architectural approach by routing all oscillators through a fixed processing chain - filter, drive, filter, waveshaper, OTT and EQ - before reaching modulation effects. This unified signal path means that polyphonic input behaves like a chord played through a guitar pedal: harmonic content distorts collectively rather than per-voice, producing cohesive, often brutal results.
The sound design toolkit is substantial. Ten waveforms include predictable options alongside specialized sources like the JP-8000 modeled supersaw and the Alpha Juno's saw/PWM hybrid. Hard sync between oscillators unlocks classic lead-synth territory, while a pitch envelope with selectable contours (Drop, Dive, Rise, Bounce, Hoover) handles the characteristic swoops and attacks that define the screech aesthetic. Up to nine unison voices per oscillator provide width and density without phase coherence issues that plague simpler implementations.

The processing chain itself is the instrument's competitive advantage. Eleven filter models drive into four saturation curves, followed by sophisticated dynamics and modulation staging. The reverb and chorus are clean and functional rather than characterful, keeping focus on the core distortion narrative.
Screech Machine serves producers and sound designers working in industrial, techno, dubstep and experimental electronic music where aggressive synthesis is not incidental but central. It occupies a specific market position: deeper than preset-driven virtual instruments, more specialized than generalist synths, and uncompromising in its tonal identity.
