About this plugin
Rave Distortion 2 is a multi-stage saturation and distortion processor that combines digital precision with analog modeling to deliver both subtle warmth and aggressive sonic transformation. At its core are two independent distortion stages, each capable of 0-60 dB of hard-clipping drive with individual wet/dry mixing, allowing producers to layer harmonic complexity with surgical control.
The plugin's saturation engine spans seven distinct character types - Tube, Soft, Transistor, Diode, Digital, Vintage, and Modern - each shaped by dedicated Symmetry and DC Bias controls to emulate asymmetric harmonic generation found in classic hardware. This breadth of saturation profiles makes it equally effective for adding subtle coloration to drums and bass or generating aggressive synthesis tones.

What sets Rave Distortion 2 apart is its Pultec EQP-1A low-frequency section, implemented via Wave Digital Filter modeling. This allows simultaneous boost and attenuation at 30, 60, or 100 Hz, enabling the classic Pultec Trick for enhanced low-end definition without muddiness. The 4-pole Moog-style ladder filter with tempo-synced LFO modulation adds real-time movement, while the musical feedback system creates additional harmonic complexity by routing post-distortion signals back into the saturation stage.
The 16x oversampling ensures clean digital implementation without aliasing artifacts. Rave Distortion 2 is best suited for producers and engineers working across electronic music, mixing, and sound design who value both vintage character and modern control. Among comparable tools, it occupies a thoughtful middle ground between specialized vintage emulations and generic multi-stage processors, offering legitimate Pultec modeling alongside flexible contemporary distortion architecture.
