About this plugin
PSP stompFilter is a multimode filter processor that combines dynamic envelope detection with LFO modulation to create expressive, performance-oriented filtering effects. The plugin offers low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass filter modes, each modulatable through both an envelope follower and tempo-synced LFO, with cross-modulation capability between the two sources. This dual-modulation architecture allows for complex, evolving tonal movement that transcends the limitations of single-source filter sweeps.
The integrated auto-wah functionality derives its sweep from input dynamics, making the effect responsive to playing intensity or source material dynamics. A built-in compressor stage provides gain management and further sculpts the signal's envelope behavior. The LFO includes adjustable randomization parameters that introduce subtle timing and amplitude variations, simulating the organic character of analog modulation circuits where perfect repetition rarely occurs. This approach yields results that feel less clinical than purely digital implementations.

The smoothly morphable filter type transitions across the spectrum, allowing real-time blending between filter modes rather than discrete switching. This design choice produces sweeping tonal transformations useful for everything from subtle enhancement to dramatic textural processing.
StompFilter appeals primarily to producers and engineers working with electronic music, hip-hop, and alternative genres where dynamic, expressive filtering drives sonic identity. The plugin's real-time modulation sources and compressor integration make it particularly effective on individual tracks rather than as a broad mixing tool. Within the competitive landscape of filter plugins, PSP stompFilter distinguishes itself through its envelope-LFO interaction model and attention to analog imperfection, offering genuine creative versatility beyond standard parametric filtering.
