PSP BinAmp is a Class A triode preamp emulation derived from the input stage of the legendary Binson Echorec 2, the 1960 magnetic delay unit widely regarded as the finest of its lineage. Rather than modeling the delay mechanism itself, PSP Audioware isolated and meticulously recreated the preamp's characteristic sound, which remains its most distinctive sonic signature decades later.

The plugin delivers the warm, musical saturation inherent to Class A tube design, where symmetric signal processing through both positive and negative voltage swings generates asymmetric nonlinearities and even-order harmonic buildup. This is the technical foundation of the Echorec 2's celebrated tone, now available as a straightforward processing tool.

BinAmp's feature set reflects practical studio utility: a -20 dB input pad with output gain compensation prevents unwanted clipping on hot signals, while high-pass filtering and high-frequency rolloff accommodate source-specific tonal shaping. Polarity switching at both input and output aids phase-critical mixing scenarios. The blend control allows parallel saturation processing without full commitment to the colored sound, while the Variation parameter adjusts harmonic behavior across multiple instances for cohesive yet differentiated processing.
