About this plugin
Thenatan Audio's POIZEN is a comprehensive sample-based instrument plugin engineered for hip-hop and trap production. The core library draws from the sonic palette that defined modern rap and R&B, with particular emphasis on sub-bass frequencies, 808 variations, and complementary melodic elements including pianos, plucks, and pads. The plugin succeeds primarily as a source of sonically coherent, production-ready samples rather than as a synthesis engine.
The technical architecture centers on sample playback with substantial post-processing depth. Users access ADSR envelope control, parallel reverb, LFO modulation, and comprehensive filtering alongside basic parameters like pitch fine-tuning and velocity response. The four-layer texture system allows producers to layer vinyl crackle, microphone room ambience, impulse responses, and sine wave fundamentals beneath their selected sounds, providing genuine tonal sculpting possibilities without becoming unwieldy.

Where POIZEN distinguishes itself is through its included expansion framework. The bundle integrates over 200 samples across factory-standard categories, with dedicated packs for 808 variants, drum elements including 35 kicks and 47 percussion sounds, and melodic instruments. This organization reflects genuine consideration for workflow within modern production contexts.
The plugin addresses a specific workflow need: producers seeking curated, complementary sounds with minimal sound design friction. It occupies practical middle ground between limited preset instruments and full-featured synthesis platforms. Best suited for producers working rapidly within hip-hop and trap conventions, POIZEN delivers functional utility without pretending to offer innovation in synthesis or processing methodology. Its value proposition rests squarely on comprehensive sample curation and efficient interface design.
