About this plugin
Unfiltered Audio's Indent 2 is a distortion processor that situates a multimode filter between two cascading clipping stages, each offering ten distinct algorithms. This architecture proves more versatile than conventional saturation plugins, allowing the filter to fundamentally reshape harmonic content before and after nonlinear processing. The clipping modes span from transparent options like soft clipping and tube modeling to aggressive character types including wavefold, overfold, and the distinctly unusual Gloubi algorithm, which delivers unpredictable harmonic complexity.
The signal flow design is Indent 2's primary strength. Rather than simply stacking saturation on a track, users can strategically deploy the filter to remove frequencies before distortion, then reintroduce harmonic richness with a second clipping stage. This approach yields results ranging from subtle tonal enhancement to extreme sound design territory. On sources like bass synths or drums, the combination of high-pass filtering post-first clipping with wavefold saturation generates organic aggression without sludge. On vocals, moderate tube-stage saturation delivers presence and cohesion that conventional compressors often struggle to achieve.

Indent 2 suits producers and mixing engineers seeking distortion beyond standard plugin fare. It's particularly valuable for those working across electronic and rock production, where subtle harmonic saturation coexists with extreme processing demands. While the interface demands some experimentation to fully exploit its capabilities, the plugin rewards exploration with sonic possibilities that justify its position as a serious alternative to both boutique hardware emulations and generic saturation tools. It's neither a one-knob solution nor needlessly complex - a genuinely useful addition to professional workflows.
