About this plugin
Three-Body Technology's Kirchhoff-EQ represents a significant departure from conventional parametric EQ design, addressing fundamental limitations that have plagued digital equalization since its inception. The plugin's core innovation, the Robust Nyquist-matched Transform, eliminates the high-frequency phase distortion and "cramping" characteristic of traditional IIR filters, delivering frequency response curves that genuinely mirror analog behavior without compromises at the frequency extremes.
The technical architecture is uncommonly rigorous. Operating at 64-bit precision with Double-Double processing yielding 117-bit internal accuracy, Kirchhoff-EQ processes audio with levels of fidelity that eliminate quantization noise as a practical concern. Psychoacoustic Adaptive Filter Topologies dynamically optimize filter structures based on frequency content, ensuring consistent sonic quality across the spectrum without the tonal coloration typical of fixed-topology designs.

The filter complement is exhaustive: 15 distinct types ranging from standard shelving and bell curves to specialized options like flat-tilt, flat-top, and sword filters. Beyond this, 32 vintage EQ models provide emulations of classic hardware, while continuously variable filter shapes offer sonic possibilities unavailable in the analog domain. The phase mode switching - selecting between zero-latency, analog, linear, and hybrid approaches - grants surgical control over transient handling and phase relationships.
Dynamic EQ implementation here transcends the perfunctory; two-way thresholds and onset control deliver nuanced dynamics processing typically reserved for standalone compressors. Kirchhoff-EQ justifiably targets mastering engineers, critical mixing applications, and producers demanding reference-grade precision. It occupies a distinct position among parametric EQs: less a general-purpose tool than a specialized instrument for transparent, analytically rigorous frequency management
