About this plugin
The Lindell Audio 80 Series represents a methodical emulation of four discrete modules from the Neve 8028 console, a desk whose sonic imprint appears across decades of landmark recordings. The plugin assembles the 1073 preamp and EQ, the more flexible 1084 EQ section, the 2254 limiter/compressor, and the 1272 line amplifier into a cohesive channel strip that captures the character of this particular console's signal path.
The 1073 core delivers the module's signature presence - a preamp with genuine headroom and transformer coloration, paired with a three-band EQ whose boost and cut ranges favor musical rather than surgical adjustments. The 1084 extends this with an additional midrange band and finer control, allowing engineers to voice sources with more precision. The compression section provides the smooth, transparent dynamic control that defined Neve's approach to limiting, favoring musicality over aggression. The 1272 contributes the full-bodied harmonic character that these desks are known for.

This plugin works best as a primary channel processor or mix bus tool rather than a surgical corrective device. Tracking engineers will find it particularly useful for adding polish and cohesion to sources without clinical detailing. Mix engineers gain a unified tonal aesthetic across multiple tracks when applied consistently, though its strength lies in enhancement rather than problem-solving.
Among Neve emulations, the Lindell 80 Series occupies a specific niche - it prioritizes the particular sound of one celebrated desk rather than attempting a universal Neve experience. This specificity makes it valuable for engineers seeking that particular console's documented sonic fingerprint.
