About this plugin
The Plugin Alliance rendering of the legendary Gallien-Krueger 800RB captures the essential character of an amp that fundamentally shaped modern bass tone since 1982. Developed by Brainworx with official Gallien-Krueger licensing, this plugin faithfully reproduces the circuit's defining characteristic: a true bi-amplified architecture that splits the signal into separate 100W and 300W power amp paths, each with independent gain and master volume controls.
The sonic appeal lies in its transparency and articulation. The four-band active EQ is surgical without being clinical, while three GK voicing filters introduce character without overwhelming the source signal. The adjustable crossover frequency control allows you to determine precisely where the tonal responsibilities split between amps, enabling anything from aggressive low-end separation to seamlessly blended tone. This flexibility makes the plugin equally suited for reinforcing punchy modern rock bass or adding clarity to dense mixes where bass definition matters.

The dual recording chain architecture - with 64 different combinations each - reflects Brainworx's commitment to capturing not just amp character but the complete signal path. Cabinet selection, microphone modeling, and outboard processing can be applied independently to each amp section, providing genuine mixing potential rather than mere emulation.
For bass players and engineers accustomed to hardware versions, this plugin delivers the expected sonic DNA: punchy, controlled, and capable of cutting through a mix without sacrificing low-end weight. It's an essential tool for anyone serious about bass tone, particularly those mixing multiple bass tracks or requiring consistent tonal character across sessions.
