About this plugin
The Bettermaker BM60 is a digital reverb plugin that reconstructs the sonic signature of vintage 80s hardware reverberators, specifically modeling algorithms derived from units that became studio standards during that decade. Rather than attempting archaeological accuracy, Brainworx has enhanced the original character through improved DSP processing, resulting in a reverb that captures the warmth and spatial density of those devices while offering modern flexibility.
The plugin provides room and plate reverb algorithms with straightforward control over room size, diffusion, and damping characteristics. The interface prioritizes accessibility without sacrificing depth - adjustments to decay time and early reflection density remain intuitive, yet the underlying engine responds with nuance. What distinguishes the BM60 is its tonal signature: a slightly colored, organically diffuse character that sits naturally into mixes rather than calling attention to itself. This works particularly well on drums, vocals, and guitar sources where the reverb adds dimension without sacrificing clarity.

The BM60 also includes convolution reverb capabilities with an embedded library of acoustic impulse responses, allowing users to move beyond algorithmic spaces when needed. CPU efficiency remains a genuine strength - the plugin scales well across multiple instances in larger sessions.
The plugin occupies a middle ground between pure vintage emulation and contemporary reverb design. It appeals to engineers working in genres that benefit from 80s-influenced production aesthetics, though the sound proves versatile enough for contemporary work. Among comparable tools, it delivers authentic character at a reasonable computational cost, making it a practical choice for mixing engineers who want period-appropriate spatial effects without significant workflow compromise.
