About this plugin
Output's Analog Strings is a specialized string synthesizer built on a dual-layer engine designed to move beyond conventional orchestral libraries. The plugin sources its character from three distinct sonic territories: a 60-piece orchestra recorded at Budapest's BMC Hall, vintage synthesizers known for string patches, and unconventional sound design elements like feedback and tape noise. This tripartite approach yields everything from traditionally expressive ensemble textures to aggressively processed, modern sonics that challenge what listeners expect from string sounds.
The engine itself prioritizes deep programmability. Beyond basic layering, Analog Strings offers dual tape loopers, dual arpeggiators, and a macro control system that lets producers tailor each of the 500 presets to fit specific production contexts. Advanced modulation routing and flux controls provide real-time textural manipulation, while global and layer-specific effects processing handle tone shaping. Tempo sync ensures rhythmic coherence in electronic and hybrid productions.

The 39 GB sample library (20 GB compressed) skews toward contemporary production needs rather than academic orchestration. Scratched bowing techniques, plucked piano tones, and processed synth stabs sit alongside more traditional sustains, making Analog Strings most useful for producers seeking strings that integrate naturally into electronic, experimental, or genre-blending work. Film composers and beat makers working with orchestral elements will find the instrument particularly valuable for creating distinctive textures that avoid the generic string sound prevalent in many DAW bundles. It occupies a middle ground between traditional notation-based orchestration tools and pure sound design synthesizers.
