About this plugin
OSDM Drums is a sample-based drum plugin engineered specifically for death metal production, with particular emphasis on the sonic aesthetics of late 80s and early 90s recordings. The kit compiles a curated selection of vintage and contemporary percussion, including a Groove Custom Pancake kick, multiple snare options ranging from crisp piccolo to darker brass configurations, and five tuned toms voiced for the rapid-fire articulation characteristic of death metal's signature patterns.
The cymbal section reflects the genre's actual hardware preferences: Sabian and Paiste rides for steady-state wash, multiple crash and china cymbals in tight size clusters optimized for dense polyrhythmic layering, and specialized stack configurations for creating the brittle, chaotic accent textures common to blast beat arrangements. Rather than pursuing polished, modern drum sounds, Ugritone has maintained the natural room coloration and mic positioning artifacts that defined the period, resulting in drums that feel integrated within historically authentic mixes rather than sitting artificially on top.

The plugin ships with seven production presets calibrated for different death metal substyles - from the swamp-influenced Tampa sound to modern deathcore approaches - providing viable starting points without imposing excessive processing chains. The relatively compact 406 MB footprint positions OSDM Drums as an efficient alternative to full multi-gigabyte sample libraries while sacrificing neither tonal depth nor velocity sensitivity.
For producers and engineers working within death metal genres, this represents a focused, uncompromising toolkit that prioritizes period-accurate character over universal versatility. The selection of included drums reflects genuine historical precedent rather than arbitrary branding.
