About this plugin
Valves Pro stands as Native Instruments' comprehensive brass sampling solution, built on session recordings with professional orchestral musicians. The plugin delivers three distinct instrument modes - Solo, Ensemble, and Player - allowing producers to construct brass sections with granular control over articulation, dynamics, and ensemble texture. The sonic character leans toward warm, mellow tonalities across trombone, flugelhorn, French horn, tuba, and euphonium, making it particularly effective for cinematic scoring where subtlety and tonal depth matter more than aggressive impact.
The library encompasses over 60 articulations and 200 preset phrases, providing both starting points for rapid composition and deep wells for customization. The Ensemble mode proves particularly valuable for constructing full brass sections without excessive layering, while the Player instrument offers interpretive possibilities through performance controls that shape attack, vibrato, and sustain characteristics in real time. This layered approach distinguishes Valves Pro from simpler brass plugins that force users into either rigid sample triggering or excessive manual editing.

For film composers and contemporary producers seeking orchestral credibility without a full sample library installation, Valves Pro presents a streamlined alternative to larger comprehensive orchestral packages. Its strength lies not in mimicking the aggression of jazz or funk brass but in delivering the soft, evolving tones essential to underscore and ambient scoring contexts. The interface design emphasizes playability, making it accessible for both quick arrangements and detailed performance shaping. While positioned as a specialized tool rather than an all-purpose brass solution, Valves Pro effectively fills the middle ground between basic playback instruments and unwieldy full orchestral frameworks.
