About this plugin
Session Guitarist - Electric Ruby Deluxe is a sampled instrument plugin that models a semi-acoustic hollowbody electric guitar with pronounced warmth and midrange presence. Native Instruments and Big Wave Audio captured the instrument across multiple playing techniques - including slides, mutes, and harmonics - using vintage-style pickups that yield a notably clean, uncolored signal path suitable for both direct recording and amp modeling applications.
The plugin's dual-instrument architecture separates concerns effectively: a pattern engine with 232 grooves handles rhythmic comping duties, while a dedicated melody instrument facilitates lead work and expressive soloing. This separation allows producers to layer arrangements without mode-switching during playful performance. The sound design benefits from 47 presets that combine DI and microphone signals, routed through Guitar Rig 7 Pro's amp and cabinet models plus studio-grade effects processing.

For jazz, blues, and retro-pop production, the tonal character sits comfortably between articulate and forgiving. The hollowbody resonance avoids the brittle quality of some virtual guitars while maintaining clarity for intricate voicings and single-note passages. Full Native Kontrol Standard integration and Light Guide support make it accessible for keyboard-based workflows, though the plugin functions equally well in standard DAW environments.
Session Guitarist - Electric Ruby Deluxe occupies practical middle ground among virtual guitar tools. It prioritizes authentic sampling over physical modeling, offering immediate, musically useful results without demanding extensive tweaking. Experienced producers seeking reliable semi-acoustic tones for session work will find it dependable; genre specialists in jazz and blues will appreciate its focused sonic character.
