About this plugin
Session Bassist - Jam Bass delivers authentic electric bass guitar synthesis with a focus on groove-oriented production. Native Instruments partnered with Big Wave Audio to create an instrument centered on a classic offset-body design, captured with dual passive single-coil pickups that define its tonal character: smooth low-end extension, defined midrange presence, and articulate treble clarity that cuts through dense mixes.
The plugin operates across two distinct functional layers. The pattern engine provides 283 grooves and phrases organized into 71 song arrangements, offering producers immediate access to professional bassline frameworks across jazz, funk, rock, and pop contexts. The melody instrument allows real-time performance and custom line construction, supporting fingerstyle, pick, slap, and pop articulations with contextual dynamics and timing nuance. This dual approach serves both compositional workflow and performance-based production.

Signal capture combines DI and microphone sources, providing tonal flexibility beyond typical sample playback. Deep integration with Guitar Rig 7 Pro expands sonic possibilities through amp modeling, cabinet simulation, and effects processing, enabling everything from pristine studio tones to heavily processed, overdriven textures. Fifty-four factory presets demonstrate this range effectively.
For session-oriented producers and arrangers, Jam Bass addresses a specific need: reliable, musically intelligent bass parts that require minimal editing while remaining fully customizable. MIDI drag-and-drop functionality and Native Kontrol Standard support streamline workflow integration. The instrument occupies practical middle ground between rigid loops and demanding synthesis, making it valuable for producers seeking groove authenticity without extensive sound design overhead or those prioritizing compositional speed across multiple genres.
