About this plugin
The Moogerfooger MF-109S Saturator brings dynamic envelope-following saturation to the Moogerfooger plugin ecosystem, addressing a gap that emerged during the development of Moog's software effects collection. At its core lies the drive circuit from the Moogerfooger pedals - the same input stage responsible for the characteristically warm, musical distortion across the hardware line - now paired with a wide-range envelope follower that responds to incoming signal dynamics.
What distinguishes the MF-109S is its bipolar approach to saturation. Rather than offering a simple overdrive-to-distortion progression, the plugin can compress and expand dynamically, allowing the drive stage to react intelligently to source material. This responsiveness makes it particularly useful for tightening flabby bass, adding controlled crunch to drums, or creating expressive, performance-like qualities on vocals and synths. The envelope follower outputs CV alongside multiple CV inputs, maintaining the modular philosophy of the original Moogerfoogers and enabling deeper integration within a plugin ecosystem.

The included noise generator, modeled after the Minimoog Model D's circuit, provides texture options often overlooked in modern saturation tools. Control over both noise level and tone - with switchable filter types - allows subtle or pronounced layering of vintage character.
The MF-109S works best for producers seeking saturation with genuine sonic complexity rather than simple gain staging. Its strength lies not in transparent processing but in imparting the warm, slightly unpredictable character that made the original hardware pedals favored by discerning engineers. For those working within the Moogerfooger plugin suite, it becomes an essential modulation and coloration hub.
