MSpectralDelay represents a departure from conventional delay design by operating in the spectral domain rather than the time domain. Rather than creating simple feedback copies of an incoming signal, the plugin decomposes audio into individual frequency components and applies independent processing to each. This fundamental approach enables transformations impossible with traditional delay plugins: per-frequency control over delay time, feedback, and level; pitch shifting within the delayed signal; frequency shifting; formant manipulation; and arbitrary spectral mapping functions that reassign both frequencies and amplitudes.
