About this plugin
MeldaProduction's MFreqShifterMB is a multiband frequency shifter that applies independent pitch shifting to isolated frequency ranges, fundamentally altering harmonic relationships within each band. Unlike traditional pitch shifters, frequency shifting introduces artificial sidebands rather than transposing harmonics, creating characteristic metallic, bell-like, or deeply alien timbral transformations depending on shift amounts and band configuration.
The plugin's dual-interface approach addresses a genuine workflow problem. The simplified mode provides preset-driven access to common applications - gentle enrichment, stereo widening, and aggressive spectral destruction - making it immediately useful without technical deep dives. The advanced interface reveals six fully independent bands with three crossover algorithms (analog, linear-phase, and hybrid), allowing surgeons-level control over where frequency shifting occurs in the spectrum.

Where MFreqShifterMB distinguishes itself is its modulation architecture. Four global modulators can simultaneously animate shift amounts, band gains, and crossover frequencies using LFO, envelope, pitch detection, or audio following. This transforms static effects into dynamic, evolving textures that respond to the source material or external timing sources. The continuously variable oscillator engine, built on MeldaProduction's envelope system, adds granular control over the shifting character itself.
Technical implementation is transparent across all processing paths. Peak metering on individual bands ensures surgical control, while surround support up to 8 channels handles immersive and film production workflows. MFreqShifterMB occupies a specific niche between sound design experimentation and precision mixing tool, best suited for producers comfortable with complex parameter layouts and engineers seeking harmonic destruction beyond conventional effects.
