About this plugin
MDoubleTracker is a psychoacoustic stereo widening tool that simulates natural double tracking through pitch and delay modulation across stereo channels. Rather than relying on simple chorus or reverb algorithms, it employs techniques derived from classic hardware units like the Eventide H3000, creating a thickened, spatially expanded sound with convincing timing characteristics. The plugin excels at widening vocals and guitars while maintaining intelligibility and avoiding the artifacts common to cheaper widening solutions.
The technical foundation rests on varied pitch shifts and carefully calibrated delay offsets that emulate the slight imperfections of actual double tracking sessions. This approach yields results that feel organic rather than processed, though the underlying mechanics remain transparent enough for critical listening. The plugin operates at up to 16x internal oversampling and supports surround configurations up to 8 channels, making it viable for both stereo mixdown and immersive formats.

MDoubleTracker suits engineers seeking transparent width enhancement without resorting to layered recordings or time-consuming session techniques. It's particularly valuable in modern production workflows where tracking density matters less than sonic impact. The interface includes modulation controls and multiparameters for deeper customization, though presets handle most practical applications efficiently.
Within its category, MDoubleTracker occupies a middle ground between simple stereo wideners and complex spatial processors. It won't replace genuine double tracking when that's the creative intent, but it delivers convincing results when widening existing material. The plugin's stability, low CPU footprint on optimized processors, and lifetime updates represent solid value for professional and semi-professional users seeking reliable stereo enhancement without gimmickry.
