About this plugin
McDSP's Channel G Compact Native v7 is a streamlined mixing channel plugin that combines transparent dynamics control with musical EQ in a single, CPU-efficient package. The plugin's architecture centers on a full-featured compressor/limiter paired with four-band EQ, where the processing order - compressor before or after the EQ - can be tailored to your source material and mixing approach.
The sonic character draws from McDSP's analog saturation modeling, which adds subtle harmonic complexity without obvious coloration when subtle settings are used. The complementary high-pass and low-pass filters offer selectable slopes up to 24 dB/octave, providing surgical control over problematic frequencies. Real-time analyzers give visual feedback during critical listening and adjustment phases.

What distinguishes Channel G Compact from full-fat channel strips is its calibration for three specific acoustic environments: music production, post-production, and emulations of industry-standard analog consoles. This approach acknowledges that mixing contexts demand different sonic references, and the plugin adapts its character accordingly rather than imposing a single house sound.
The plugin targets mixing engineers and post-production professionals who value CPU efficiency without sacrificing sonic capability. Native processing on modern Apple Silicon and Intel systems delivers zero-latency operation suitable for tracking through or mixing with automation. Two activations per license provide reasonable flexibility across home and professional studios.
Channel G Compact represents a practical middle ground between simplified channel processing and comprehensive mastering-grade tools, making it suitable for mixing sessions where sonic character matters but DSP overhead cannot.
