About this plugin
The 6060 represents McDSP's most comprehensive processing platform, offering a modular architecture that accommodates up to six processing units in any signal chain configuration. With over 30 available modules spanning EQ, compression, saturation, distortion, and specialized filtering, the plugin addresses the full spectrum of mixing and mastering tasks from a single interface.
The core strength lies in its compression algorithms, which notably diverge from McDSP's earlier 6050 and 6030 designs through the inclusion of feedback and feedforward topologies, alongside the uncommon negative compression feature on select modules. The BC-23 module exemplifies this approach, drawing from English console compression characteristics while incorporating circuit modeling that maintains transparency even under extreme ratio settings. Beyond compression, the custom modules reveal a cohesive sonic philosophy: bass-optimized biasing for low-end definition, transformer-based high-frequency shaping, and tape simulation that meaningfully colors the signal path.

The modular design permits split mode operation, enabling parallel processing chains within a single instance - a workflow advantage for both mixing and mastering contexts. Module sequencing remains entirely flexible, with drag-and-drop auditioning supporting rapid creative iteration.
The HD version targets AAX DSP users, offering zero-latency processing through optimized algorithms and Apple Silicon compatibility alongside Intel support. Double precision processing throughout ensures mathematical accuracy across extended mixing sessions.
The 6060 occupies a distinct position among comparable tools through its breadth of purpose-built modules rather than general-purpose processing. It functions most effectively as a primary channel processor or mastering stage where sonic versatility and surgical control converge.
