About this plugin
McDSP's 6034 Ultimate Multi-band remains one of the most capable multiband dynamics processors available in plugin form, and the v7 upgrade delivers meaningful performance improvements alongside interface refinements. Built on the proven compression, expansion, and gating architecture from the acclaimed 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip, the 6034 applies these modules across a flexible four-band crossover network, enabling surgical frequency-specific dynamics control without the phase distortion typical of lesser implementations.
The crossover system offers configurable filter slopes at 6, 12, or 24 dB/octave, providing appropriate precision for everything from subtle mastering work to aggressive metal production. Each band retains full metering visibility showing gain reduction and output levels, while the main input and output channels receive dedicated metering as well. The ability to swap dynamics modules on the fly while maintaining relative settings distinguishes this tool from competitors, facilitating rapid comparison between compression flavors without rebuilding settings.

V7 introduces optimizations for Apple Silicon and current Intel processors, delivering the zero-latency processing that makes this suitable for real-time tracking scenarios. The included analog saturation modeling adds harmonic character often missing from purely clinical multiband designs. Artist presets from figures including Mike Dean and David Bottrill demonstrate the plugin's capability across multiple genres.
This upgrade targets experienced producers and mixing engineers who require transparent multiband control with the sonic flexibility that module swapping provides. For those mastering or addressing specific frequency-range problems on individual tracks or buses, the 6034 represents a professional-grade investment that justifies its position in demanding workflows.
