About this plugin
Mastering Console V2 is a comprehensive mastering plugin that combines essential processing stages into a coherent signal chain architecture. The workflow moves logically from corrective filtering through tonal shaping to limiting, mirroring the structure of professional mastering suites.
The plugin's strength lies in its integration of mid-range and high-frequency tools with surprising depth. The Bax EQ's fixed shelves at 40 Hz and 12 kHz provide the kind of transparent tilt that shapes perceived balance without aggressive intervention. The Tube Sat stage adds harmonic weight selectively via its saturation filter, allowing engineers to color specific frequency ranges rather than the entire spectrum. The M-S matrix gives precise control over stereo imaging relationships, essential when managing mix translation across playback systems.

The de-esser component deserves attention for its standalone metering and three-parameter control, preventing harsh sibilance from reaching the limiter where it would consume headroom unnecessarily. The true-peak limiting engine includes its own input drive stage and comprehensive metering, making gain staging transparent throughout the chain.
Mastering Console V2 suits both mastering engineers seeking a streamlined alternative to multi-plugin chains and mix engineers needing professional-grade bus compression without menu diving. The redesigned interface and new oversampling algorithm suggest Safari Audio refined the sonic character based on practical feedback, though the plugin maintains a distinctly clinical, precise approach rather than colored or euphonic character.
Among comparable all-in-one mastering solutions, this represents a capable, transparent option for engineers prioritizing straightforward workflow and technical control over character or vintage emulation.
