About this plugin
Loopmasters' VIBES 13 - Post Punk represents a focused, genre-specific approach to effects processing that draws heavily from the production aesthetics of post-punk and darkwave records from the late 1970s through 1980s. Rather than attempting to be a comprehensive multi-effects unit, this plugin assembles a curated chain of processing tools optimized for the tonal characteristics that defined the era's most influential recordings.
The plugin's architecture centers on a combination of analog-modeled EQ, compression, and spatial effects - specifically designed to add the kind of controlled distortion, tight low-end definition, and atmospheric depth that post-punk production demanded. The compression modeling appears to reference the gear commonly found in the recording studios of that period, offering relatively fast attack times and musical knee characteristics rather than clinical control. Reverb and delay sections lean toward shorter, tighter spaces alongside modulation effects that can introduce the subtle chorus and flange textures characteristic of the genre without overwhelming the source material.

For producers working within post-punk, new wave, or industrial aesthetics, VIBES 13 serves as a starting point that requires less guesswork than assembling effects from scratch. It's most effective when applied to drums, vocals, and bass - the foundational elements of post-punk arrangement. While experienced engineers may find it somewhat limiting for general-purpose mixing work, its specificity is precisely its strength. The plugin succeeds not by attempting universality, but by committing fully to a coherent sonic vision rooted in a particular time and place in recording history.
