About this plugin
SynthMaster One represents a focused distillation of KV331 Audio's flagship synthesizer, maintaining the core engine while introducing wavetable synthesis capabilities in a more accessible package. The instrument delivers substantial sound design depth without overwhelming users with excessive complexity, making it genuinely useful for both synthesis newcomers and experienced producers seeking streamlined workflows.
The synth's real strength lies in its content and algorithmic flexibility. The 1250 preset library, bolstered by contributions from BT and other respected sound designers, provides both starting points and inspirational reference material. More importantly, the three envelope algorithms - Digital, Profat, and Oobee - offer distinct sonic characters. The Profat and Oobee models, derived from classic analogue architectures, impart subtle saturation and harmonic coloration that distinguishes SynthMaster One from straightforward digital competitors.

The microtuning implementation deserves particular attention. The scale library extends far beyond conventional 12-tone equal temperament, with keyboard mapping flexibility and visual feedback that makes alternative tuning systems genuinely explorable rather than merely academic exercises. Cloud-based preset synchronization and cross-platform compatibility address practical workflow concerns that matter in contemporary production environments.
SynthMaster One occupies a middle ground between fully-featured workstations and pared-down virtual instruments. It's best suited for producers who value sonic character and microtuning capabilities without needing comprehensive modulation matrices or deep parameter diving. The preset quality and envelope modeling give it competitive standing against comparable instruments, though CPU efficiency and deep FM capability remain relative limitations rather than outright weaknesses.
