Amplifikation Lancaster

Amplifikation Lancaster is Kuassa's fourth generation guitar amp simulator, built on the company's third iteration of circuit modeling technology. The plugin targets the sonic signature of the Vox AC30, one of rock music's most historically significant amplifiers, by compiling three distinct voicings from different production eras into a single instrument.

The Lancaster approach acknowledges that the AC30's character evolved significantly across five decades of manufacture. The three included amp models - designated Lancaster A, B, and C - represent late 2000s, 1990s, and 1970s specifications respectively. Lancaster A exhibits early breakup with a raw, aggressive response. Lancaster B, modeled after a 1990s limited edition variant, delivers a fatter, slightly compressed character well-suited to overdrive and distortion. Lancaster C prioritizes headroom and cleaner articulation, reflecting the earlier design's inherent strengths.

The plugin distinguishes itself through parallel channel mixing, allowing simultaneous use of the Normal and Top Boost channels as a "jumpered" AC30 configuration would provide. This architectural flexibility expands tonal possibilities beyond traditional single-channel operation. A Range Master style treble booster, integral to the classic AC30 setup, is included as an integrated effect.

Kuassa's circuit modeling claims improved dynamic response across the tone palette, suggesting more nuanced pickup interaction and playing sensitivity than earlier simulation approaches. The Lancaster will appeal to producers and engineers requiring AC30 character without hardware constraints, particularly those working across multiple musical contexts where the amp's versatility across clean, driven, and heavily overdriven territories proves valuable. It occupies a specialized but well-defined role in the amp simulation market.
