About this plugin
Filter Ark represents a significant evolution in Korg's software modeling approach, positioning the filter itself as the primary creative instrument rather than a secondary processing stage. The plugin's core strength lies in its ability to stack up to four filters simultaneously, drawn from both faithfully modeled vintage circuits and newly developed digital designs. The vintage selections - sourced from the MS-20, Polysix, miniKORG 700s, and ARP Odyssey - demonstrate accurate component modeling that preserves the harmonic coloration and resonance characteristics of the original hardware. These aren't mere emulations but behavioral recreations that respond authentically to modulation and extreme parameter settings.
The modern filter designs, including physically modeled resonators and a vowel filter based on human vocal formants, establish Filter Ark as more than a nostalgic collection. The vowel filter particularly distinguishes the plugin, offering a genuinely novel approach to spectral shaping that extends well beyond conventional subtractive synthesis. The modulation architecture - featuring LFOs, envelope followers, and a step sequencer - enables complex, evolving timbral transformations that justify the multi-filter approach.

Filter Ark suits sound designers seeking sophisticated tonal manipulation, from subtle enhancement to radical spectral reconfiguration. It's particularly valuable for those working in electronic music, post-production, and experimental sound design where filter character matters as much as frequency response. While specialized filter plugins exist, few match Filter Ark's combination of vintage authenticity and contemporary design innovation. For users already invested in the Korg Collection ecosystem, it provides cohesive sonic continuity alongside genuinely new creative possibilities.
