About this plugin
Distinct! is a distortion plugin derived from the Overstayer: Modular Channel, designed to deliver harmonic saturation across a broad range of applications. The core strength lies in its three distinct saturation modes, each generating different harmonic profiles. The ODD mode produces third-order harmonics for edgy, gritty character; EVEN generates second-order harmonics for smoother, more musical saturation; and DIGT applies digital soft clipping optimized for transient-rich material like drums and mastering contexts, with added presence in the high midrange.
The signal flow architecture separates tonal shaping from saturation processing. High-frequency and low-frequency controls operate upstream of the distortion circuit, allowing users to pre-shape material before saturation occurs. This design proves particularly useful when working across genres - boosting highs before saturation creates aggressive presence, while low-end emphasis before clipping generates thickness without muddiness. The highpass filter extends to 420Hz, providing practical cleanup of unwanted low-frequency content.

Beyond the primary Distort control, the nonlinear SAT parameter adds an additional saturation layer whose behavior responds dynamically to Input and Distort settings, requiring experimentation to fully exploit. This interdependency makes the plugin more complex than straightforward distortion tools but rewards thorough exploration.
Distinct! suits mixing engineers seeking subtle warmth on individual tracks through mastering applications, as well as sound designers pursuing extreme harmonic manipulation. The plugin occupies practical middle ground between linear distortion modules and more surgical processing tools, making it a versatile choice for producers comfortable with parameter interaction and iterative workflow.
