About this plugin
iZotope's Ozone 12 Standard represents a mature evolution of the company's flagship mastering suite, now enhanced with three substantive tools that address genuine mixing and mastering challenges. The Bass Control module provides surgical low-end management across multiple listening environments, solving a persistent problem in modern production where translation issues plague even experienced engineers. The addition of neural network-powered processing alongside the core EQ, dynamics, and saturation tools creates a hybrid workflow that balances intelligent automation with manual precision.
The Master Assistant feature, now customizable, continues iZotope's commitment to AI-guided rather than AI-decided processing. Built on analysis of thousands of professional masters, it generates context-aware starting points while preserving creative agency. This distinction matters for professional users skeptical of fully automated solutions. The Standard tier strikes a practical balance for engineers working across multiple projects who need proven mastering tools without the comprehensive feature set of Advanced.

Sonically, Ozone 12 maintains the transparent processing character that has made previous versions reliable in critical listening environments. The new Bass Control doesn't impart obvious coloration when used conservatively, allowing it to function as a utility rather than a tonal statement. However, its saturation module remains capable of adding character when intentionally deployed.
This crossgrade edition targets engineers already invested in iZotope's ecosystem, offering worthwhile enhancements over earlier Ozone versions. While not a revolutionary redesign, the targeted improvements address real workflow friction points without sacrificing the stability and accuracy that professional mastering demands.
