About this plugin
TONEX represents a meaningful departure from traditional amp modeling by employing IK Multimedia's proprietary AI Machine Modeling technology to capture the electromechanical character of guitar and bass gear with genuine fidelity. Rather than relying on convolution or traditional DSP approximations, the software learns and reproduces the nonlinear behavior of amplifiers, cabinets, and effects pedals through machine learning, yielding results that track closely with hardware originals across the frequency spectrum.
The modeling process unfolds through an intuitive assistant workflow. Users connect their gear via audio interface, and the software generates a functional Tone Model in as little as five minutes on contemporary systems. This speed matters for working musicians who need to document their rigs without surrendering hours to meticulous measurement protocols. The system handles single-element modeling ( isolated distortion pedals, for instance ) through complex multi-stage rigs, providing flexibility for various use cases.

TONEX functions as both a standalone application and plug-in, integrating with major DAWs and operating within the broader AmpliTube ecosystem on Mac and Windows platforms. The interface prioritizes clarity over feature density, keeping workflow friction minimal during recording and practice sessions.
The software appeals primarily to touring musicians seeking portable alternatives to hardware chains, studio engineers managing client expectations on gear access, and tone enthusiasts who value sonic accuracy alongside convenience. Version 1.9.1 expanded the factory library substantially, offering both newly modeled gear and organizational improvements. For engineers accustomed to amp modeling's limitations, TONEX delivers measurable sonic improvements without requiring fundamental changes to existing workflows.
