About this plugin
IK Multimedia's Lurssen Mastering Suite MAX bundles three essential tools that collectively model the signal chain favored by mastering engineers Gavin Lurssen and Reuben Cohen. The package centers on two primary plugins: the Lurssen Mastering EQ and the Lurssen Mastering Console, alongside a T-RackS 6 MAX license.
The Lurssen Mastering EQ emulates the 825 Tube EQ, a hardware standard in professional mastering rooms. Its character stems from authentic preamp modeling that enables harmonic saturation control through a dedicated Color parameter, allowing engineers to shift between transparent processing and colored, harmonically enriched tonal shaping. The plugin architecture supports independent stereo channels with individual left/right controls, plus mid/side processing for surgical frequency work. Three semi-parametric filters handle midrange sculpting while adjustable shelving filters manage high and low frequency ranges with musical curves rather than clinical precision.

The Lurssen Mastering Console represents a more ambitious undertaking: a complete chain emulation incorporating tube and solid state equalizers, limiters, de-essers, and compressors configured in sequence. Crucially, the plugin models the interactive behavior between cascaded processors rather than treating each stage as an isolated module, a distinction that meaningfully impacts the final sound character.
Aimed at mastering engineers and mix engineers seeking reference-grade processing with documented sonic credentials, this suite provides access to proven signal paths previously available only through analog hardware. It succeeds as both a standalone mastering tool and as an integrated component within the T-RackS ecosystem, making it particularly valuable for facilities standardizing their digital workflow around IK's platform.
