About this plugin
IK Multimedia's AmpliTube 5 SE delivers studio-grade amp and effects modeling in a streamlined package designed for producers and engineers seeking authentic guitar and bass tones without the full feature set of the flagship version. Built on two decades of collaboration with manufacturers and touring artists, the plugin leverages Dynamic Interaction Modeling technology to capture the electrical behavior and harmonic character of sought-after gear across the signal chain.
The core strength lies in its cabinet modeling, which employs Volumetric Impulse Response technology - measurements derived from over 143,000 impulse response samples taken across more than 100 cabinets. This approach yields notably accurate room and microphone character, moving beyond standard convolution reverb into genuine acoustic modeling. The signal chain supports flexible routing with series and parallel topologies, allowing experienced engineers to design unconventional signal paths rather than accepting preset signal flow.

AmpliTube 5 SE includes official models from Fender, Mesa/Boogie, Orange, and artist collaborations with figures like Slash and Brian May. The included 8-track recorder and integrated mixer provide sufficient documentation tools for working musicians, while the UltraTuner and looping functionality address common production workflow needs.
The plugin suits engineers tracking guitars and bass who prioritize tonal accuracy over extensive customization, and producers exploring amp tones without committing to hardware or the full AmpliTube 5 suite. Its realistic impulse response engine stands apart from competitors, though the SE edition's more limited gear selection may frustrate users seeking extreme sonic diversity or deep preset customization found in higher-tier versions.
