About this plugin
The HY-RPE2 is an 8-track MIDI sequencer that distinguishes itself through dual engine architecture, offering both traditional step sequencing and generative pattern creation within a single plugin. The Grid engine provides straightforward step-based sequencing for users who prefer direct note placement and editing, while the Euclidean engine applies algorithmic pattern generation based on Euclidean rhythms, enabling complex polyrhythmic sequences from minimal input.
The Euclidean implementation stands out for its modulation capabilities. Four dedicated LFO and Sample & Hold units allow real-time parameter modulation across the sequencer, creating evolving patterns without manual re-sequencing. Four macro knobs provide quick access to critical parameters, streamlining workflow during performance or experimentation. The drag and drop modulation assignment system integrates these tools intuitively, reducing menu diving.

Additional features address practical workflow concerns. MIDI Learn enables hardware controller integration, while the MIDI Note Map allows custom note assignments and transposition, useful for working across different instruments or tuning systems. The built-in MIDI Recorder captures external performances for editing and manipulation. A resizable interface adapts to different screen configurations.
The HY-RPE2 appeals to producers working with algorithmic composition, live electronic musicians seeking generative accompaniment, and anyone integrating MIDI sequencing within a DAW workflow. It occupies a middle ground between basic step sequencers and complex generative tools, offering sufficient depth for advanced use cases while remaining accessible to intermediate users. The dual-engine approach provides flexibility without feature bloat, making it a practical addition to sequences-heavy production setups.
