About this plugin
HY-Filter4 stands as a comprehensive filter and effects processor that extends beyond traditional plugin architecture through its integrated sequencing capabilities. The plugin centers on a versatile multi-engine filter paired with 38 built-in effects units, ranging from standard processors to more experimental sound design tools. This is complemented by 10 modulation sources, collectively comprising a semi-modular environment where parameters can be dynamically controlled across the entire signal chain.
The distinguishing feature is the CTRL SEQ, a 16-track grid sequencer with 12 pattern snapshots that directly manages effect and modulator parameters. Rather than relying on external automation or MIDI control, the sequencer allows producers to create time-locked modulation patterns that evolve independently of the host DAW's tempo mapping. This approach proves particularly valuable for designing evolving textures, rhythmic filtering, and synchronized effect mutations without manually drawing automation curves.

The drag-and-drop modulation assignment streamlines workflow, enabling quick experimentation with cross-modulation between effects and modulators. This makes HY-Filter4 well-suited for electronic music producers, sound designers, and mix engineers seeking non-linear, generative approaches to processing. The plugin excels in creating movement within static source material and generating complex, evolving soundscapes that resist predictability.
Compared to traditional multi-effects processors, HY-Filter4 sacrifices simplicity for depth. It demands engagement with its modular philosophy but rewards users with genuine creative control. For producers comfortable with semi-modular synthesis concepts, the plugin delivers substantial sonic possibilities. Its strength lies not in transparent processing but in transformation and reinterpretation of audio sources through systematic parameter modulation.
