About this plugin
The Red Pack expansion for Hertz Drums delivers a deliberately aggressive drum kit engineered for maximum presence in dense mixes. Built around European Birch shells with boosted high-frequency content and a scooped midrange, this collection prioritizes cut and articulation over tonal warmth or subtlety. The kit's low-end punch remains intact despite the midrange reduction, creating a visceral impact particularly effective in rock and metal contexts where drums must compete with heavy instrumentation.
The kit comprises five kick drums spanning 22 to 24 inches in various wood types, five snares offering tonal variation from classic crack to deeper resonance, and a dedicated Birch tom set. Cymbals include studio-voiced crashes, splashes, and chinas alongside a stage ride, with a 14-inch studio hi-hat completing the percussion arsenal. The tambourine and claps add textural options for genre-specific applications.

What distinguishes Red Pack is its uncompromising design philosophy. Rather than pursuing neutrality or vintage character, it optimizes for a specific sonic agenda: aggressive presence without muddiness. The included presets span expected territory - Djent, Stoner Metal, Hard Rock - though more adventurous users will find the raw kit pieces equally valuable for electronic and experimental contexts where aggressive transient response matters.
Red Pack suits engineers working with power metal, progressive rock, and contemporary heavy music where traditional drum samples often sound buried or indistinct. It represents a focused solution for a particular production problem rather than a universal kit, making it most valuable when that problem matches your creative needs.
