About this plugin
MicroFX Refiner is a bus processing plugin that consolidates essential mastering chain components into a single, mouse-friendly interface. Built by Heavyocity, it chains together EQ, saturation, compression, stereo imaging, and limiting in a signal flow designed specifically for subtractive polish rather than aggressive transformation. The plugin's core strength lies in its X / Y control pad, which dynamically balances loudness and character without requiring constant parameter tweaking. This approach appeals to engineers seeking efficient workflow without sacrificing sonic control.
The plugin ships with 36 presets organized across master, drum, vocal, and instrument categories, each tailored to its respective bus application. Rather than one-size-fits-all processing, these presets acknowledge that drum buses and vocal buses demand different tonal characteristics. Three distinct modes - Gentle, Standard, and Aggressive - allow for scaling the intensity of the entire signal chain, a practical feature for A / B comparing processing intensity quickly.

MicroFX Refiner positions itself as a finishing tool rather than a creative engine, though its saturation and compression layers offer enough character to serve as either. It competes directly with iZotope's Neutron and FabFilter's Pro-C, but distinguishes itself through simplicity. Heavyocity's design philosophy emphasizes accessibility for mixing engineers who need reliable glue without deep technical engagement, making it most suitable for producers working across multiple projects who benefit from preset consistency and rapid iteration.
