About this plugin
The OCELOT Upmixer addresses a genuine technical challenge: converting mono sources to stereo without phase artifacts or tonal degradation. Fuse Audio Labs achieves this through spectral diffusion technology that distributes the mono signal across both channels and the frequency spectrum in a phase-coherent manner, avoiding the hollow, metallic character common to naive stereo widening approaches.
The plugin's core strength lies in its restraint. Rather than aggressive processing, it expands the stereo image by subtly decorrelating frequency bands, creating width that feels organic to the source material. The Tune control provides meaningful tonal shaping through variable high and low-pass filters plus a switchable diffusion mode, allowing adaptation to different instruments without sacrificing coherence. Real-time metering including vector scope and correlation display gives engineers precise control over phase relationships.

This is essential for tracking scenarios where mono sources are unavoidable - single-mic drum captures, isolated vocal takes, or archived recordings. It's equally valuable for mixing, where selective upmixing on selected tracks can enhance spatial depth without resorting to parallel processing chains. The zero latency and minimal CPU footprint make it practical for both mixing and live applications.
Among mono-to-stereo solutions, the OCELOT stands apart through its technical sophistication and transparent sonic character. It doesn't impose a signature; it reveals dimensionality inherent to the source. For engineers prioritizing phase coherence and natural results over dramatic widening effects, this represents a significant workflow improvement, particularly in genres where mono compatibility and source integrity remain priorities.
