About this plugin
eXplorer 11 consolidates Rob Papen's extensive plugin ecosystem into a single, comprehensive collection spanning 36 instruments and effects. The bundle positions itself as a complete production environment rather than a collection of point solutions, addressing workflows where producers need consistent sonic character across synthesis, processing, and sound design tasks.
The core strength lies in RAW-Kick 2, a specialized kick drum synthesizer developed with input from Dutch hardcore and hardstyle producers. Its three-layer architecture combines model-based synthesis with sample playback and granular processing, supported by multi-stage envelopes and a ribbon controller featuring tempo-synchronized spring-back behavior. For electronic music producers, particularly those working in EDM, hip-hop, and drum and bass, the kick engine delivers the frequency-focused punch and dynamic control these genres demand.

Beyond kick synthesis, eXplorer 11 includes FilterField and effects like Prisma, a plugin designed to layer up to four Rob Papen instruments simultaneously. This layering capability enables advanced sound design possibilities for designers seeking complex, evolving textures rather than static tones.
The inclusion of legacy products as optional additions preserves backward compatibility while the unified interface streamlines navigation across the collection. eXplorer 11 functions best for electronic music specialists and sound designers who benefit from a deep, integrated toolkit from a single developer. Its specificity toward kick drum design and electronic music production means general composers or audio engineers requiring broader functionality may find more flexible alternatives elsewhere.
