About this plugin
Eventide's Crystals is a pitch shifting and delay effect derived from the legendary H3000 Harmonizer, designed to generate lush, cascading textures through dual parallel processing chains. Each channel features independent pitch shifters spanning four octaves in either direction, paired with delays up to four seconds and feedback control, culminating in a reverb engine with 100 seconds of decay time.
The plugin's core strength lies in its ability to create sophisticated harmonic layers without relying on traditional reverb algorithms. By stacking pitched delays with musical intervals - fourths, fifths, or octaves - users can construct ambient soundscapes that sit naturally in a mix rather than occupying discrete space. The granular delay approach prevents temporal artifacts, particularly when extending decay times or manipulating feedback for looping applications.

Crystals serves multiple production contexts effectively. Sound designers appreciate its capacity for textural experimentation, while mixing engineers find practical applications in thickening thin vocal performances or adding dimension to sparse synth arrangements. The Ribbon control enables real-time parameter modulation, transforming static settings into dynamic, playable instruments rather than fixed effects.
Compared to algorithmic reverbs alone, Crystals trades reverb sophistication for harmonic flexibility. It occupies a distinct niche between conventional delay plugins and full convolution tools. The FLEX button and MixLock feature streamline workflow during A/B comparisons. Available across major DAWs and iOS, the plugin represents a genuine extension of Eventide's algorithmic legacy rather than a simple software port, offering experienced producers tangible creative possibilities beyond standard delay and reverb processors.
