About this plugin
Cherry Audio's Yellowjacket is a comprehensive digital recreation of the 1978 EDP Wasp, a pioneering British hybrid synthesizer known for its distinctive buzzy, brash character and unconventional touch-capacitive interface. Rather than simply emulating the original, Cherry Audio has expanded the concept into a fully polyphonic instrument while preserving the Wasp's singular tonal signature - that characteristic gritty oscillator texture and resonant filter behavior that defined its era.
The core architecture remains faithful to the source: dual oscillators with cross-modulation capability, a multimode filter with authentic response curves, and envelope generators that capture the Wasp's particular sonic aggression. Where Yellowjacket diverges is in its implementation of modern polyphonic capability (up to 16 voices), unison modes, and a genuinely useful arpeggiator with probability and humanization controls. The multi-voice system stands out as a particularly thoughtful addition, allowing per-note variation through additional mini-synth panels that layer pitch, pan, and filter modulation across voices.

The interface faithfully reproduces the original's yellow and black touch keyboard with diatonic scaling and transpose, extended here with polyphonic and channel aftertouch support. Over 270 presets provide immediate access to leads, pads, arpeggiated sequences, and chord stabs that exploit the synth's particular strengths.
Yellowjacket suits producers seeking authentic vintage character without the limitations of monophony, particularly those working in experimental, ambient, or retro-electronic genres. Among modern Wasp emulations, it stands as the most feature-complete and musically versatile interpretation available.
