SH-MAX is Cherry Audio's comprehensive software synthesis engine that consolidates the core architecture of three landmark Moog SH-series synthesizers into a single, expanded instrument. Rather than simply emulating individual units, Cherry Audio has synthesized the most capable elements across the SH-5, SH-7, and SH-3A, resulting in an instrument with considerably more flexibility than any of its source inspirations.

The sonic foundation rests on dual voltage-controlled oscillators with syncable capabilities and multiple waveforms, complemented by a distinctive parallel filter section comprising multimode and bandpass circuits. This dual-filter architecture is central to SH-MAX's character - the filters exhibit pronounced personality, ranging from warm and vintage to aggressive and cutting. The inclusion of ring modulation, sample and hold, two LFOs, and an additive-style oscillator from the SH-3A expands harmonic possibilities well beyond the original hardware designs.
