About this plugin
Cherry Audio's Novachord + Solovox bundle delivers authentic emulations of two historically significant vacuum tube synthesizers that fundamentally shaped polyphonic and monophonic synthesis design. The Novachord engine models the 1939 Hammond instrument's divide-down oscillator architecture, delivering its characteristic warm, slightly compressed harmonic character across 72 keys of polyphony. The implementation captures the unit's band-pass filtering approach and early envelope behavior that predated standardized ADSR implementation, resulting in smooth, organic tonal transitions that resist harsh artifacts common in naive soft synth designs.
The Solovox component replicates the companion monophonic keyboard's ribbon-controller expressiveness and focused lead voice, providing practical melodic capability without the polyphonic overhead. Both instruments employ resonant filters that exhibit the subtle non-linearity of tube saturation, contributing warmth and presence that distinguishes them from more clinical virtual analog approaches.

This pairing suits producers and composers seeking vintage electronic character for orchestral arrangements, ambient soundscapes, and period-authentic scoring work. Engineers will appreciate the tonal consistency across both instruments and their resistance to digital artifacts that plague less refined emulations. The vacuum tube modeling prevents the brittle quality that undermines many vintage synth recreations.
Compared to individual vintage hardware units, the plugin offers stability, recall, and accessibility that the originals' 500-pound frames and maintenance demands could never provide. While not essential for modern synthesis workflows, the Novachord + Solovox occupies a distinct sonic territory where its predictive design choices and harmonic character deliver genuine creative value beyond historical novelty.
