About this plugin
Carbon Electra 2 represents a significant refinement of Scaler Music's synthesizer plugin, designed specifically for producers who want harmonic intelligence baked into their sound design workflow rather than bolted on as an afterthought. The plugin's core proposition is straightforward: scale-aware synthesis that maintains musical coherence across oscillators, filters, and sequencing simultaneously.
The waveterrain oscillator engine is the technical centerpiece. Rather than stepping through discrete waveforms, this approach calculates movement across a three-dimensional harmonic surface, yielding timbral evolution that feels more organic than traditional wavetable morphing. Paired with FM, hard sync, and unison modes, it covers considerable sonic territory from subtle texture shifts to dramatic spectral transformations. A complementary traditional filter section handles conventional subtractive sculpting.

What distinguishes Carbon Electra 2 in a crowded field is its sequencer integration. Borrowed from Scaler's chord recognition engine, the note and chord sequencer understands scale context, allowing you to build patterns in chord mode with inversions and parallel substitutions without manual pitch correction. Scale Lock extends this intelligence to the filter bank, enabling keytracked resonant peaks that bubble in sympathy with your track's harmonic content.
The plugin suits melodic electronic production, ambient sound design, and any workflow where harmonic fidelity matters. It's less a general-purpose synth than a specialized tool for producers already invested in scale-based composition. Compared to competitors, Carbon Electra 2 offers deeper harmonic integration than most soft synths manage, though it requires engagement with its scale-selection paradigm rather than pure hands-on immediacy.
